Jason Costa is the founder of The Costa Group and lead consultant on the legal industry team. He has 14 years of experience in the legal industry in all aspects of marketing. Before founding The Costa Group, he managed media relations for DLA Piper in the Americas. Jason’s experience also includes extensive work with world-class marketing operations at leading international firms like Shearman & Sterling and Hogan Lovells. Jason is a graduate of the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Tom Wicker joined Chambers and Partners as a researcher and writer in 2004 and later became editor of Chambers USA, a client’s guide to the US legal market, where he oversaw the research and production of multiple editions of the book. He also helped to organize an annual awards ceremony and spoke at marketing events. Tom left Chambers in June 2010 to become a law firm consultant. He has extensive knowledge of the legal market and firms’ competitive positions, and he has unique insight into the stresses and strains of the legal directory research process. Tom advises law firms on submission content, research strategy and interview technique, as well as other marketing and positioning strategy. He graduated with a First Class honours degree from Oxford University and successfully completed an MPhil program at Cambridge University.
Dr. Mary Borrowman
Mary Borrowman is a highly experienced research analyst with subject matter expertise in artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, data harmonization, regression analysis, and survey design. Her first introduction to the legal industry came by way of expert witness work on complex business litigation matters involving the Lanham Act, trademark infringement and brand damages. Her recent work is focused on marketing-related AI applications using IBM’s supercomputer, Watson. Mary Borrowman earned her PhD in Economics at The New School.
Justin Fortanascio is a marketing professional with extensive experience in public relations, event planning, and website development. Working with The Costa Group, he has created marketing and pitch materials for a variety of legal and non-profit clients. He previously managed fundraising and events for the Guggenheim Museum, The Salvation Army, and The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Justin also conducted academic research for a Professor of Literary History at Barnard College, Columbia University and assisted with education abroad programs at Oxford University. Justin graduated from Fordham University.
